The Maintenance Shift Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of planning and executing maintenance and repair activities for equipment to minimize downtime, improve reliability, prevent breakdowns and reduce operating costs. Scope includes managing and supervising the safe, effective and efficient utilization of a crew of mechanics, prioritizing work of shift mechanics and completing appropriate reports and records.
How You’ll shape the Future of the Maintenance Department:
+ Lead the safety program for assigned crew to prevent injuries, eliminate hazards, improve housekeeping and comply with all Plant policies. Implement improvement initiatives, and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors. Positively respond to employee safety concerns in a timely manner.
+ Supervise work performed by assigned employees. This includes preventive maintenance inspections, prioritization of all planned and emergency repairs to Plant equipment and facilities.
+ Manage employee performance, training and development. Respond to grievances as appropriate and handles routine labor agreement issues. Document employee counseling and disciplinary action.
+ Assess the knowledge and skills of employees assigned and makes job assignments designed to develop their maximum potential while maintaining the highest safety standards. Train and coach employees as necessary.
+ Plan and schedule maintenance work on shift to include the following:
+ Ensure that well-defined work orders with proper account numbers are issued and materials are available on jobs scheduled.
+ Requisition maintenance materials, spare parts, and coordinate with the storekeeper the disposition of materials when received.
+ Coordinate with production supervisors the scheduling of jobs, which require production equipment to be out of service.
You’ll Be Someone Who Can Bring:
+ BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
+ 6 to 9 years applicable experience.
+ Well developed knowledge of pulp manufacturing, plant maintenance practices and project management.
