Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
The Vice President of Content Strategy will lead the development and execution of the network’s content vision, overseeing programming strategy across linear cable and digital platforms. This executive will drive audience growth, engagement, and revenue by aligning content initiatives with business goals, optimizing the content slate, and leveraging data-driven insights to inform decision-making. The Vice President will collaborate with cross-functional teams and report directly to senior leadership. This role is ideal for a strategic, innovative leader passionate about shaping the future of cable entertainment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Develop and implement a comprehensive, data-driven content strategy for all platforms (cable, streaming, digital) to maximize audience acquisition, retention, brand goals, and engagement.
+ Manage content planning, acquisition, scheduling, and original programming decisions, ensuring alignment with network brand and business objectives.
+ Partner with analytics, research, and marketing teams to interpret viewership data to optimize content mix and inform future investments.
+ Collaborate with marketing, sales, product, and distribution teams to ensure content initiatives support broader company goals.
+ Stay ahead of emerging technologies, content formats, and consumption trends to future-proof the content strategy and maintain competitive advantage.
+ Develop and manage content budgets and resource allocation.
+ Represent the network in industry forums, and partnerships, as needed.
Required Qualifications:
+ 10+ years of experience in content strategy, programming, or related roles at a video streaming service or other relevant areas within the entertainment media industry.
+ Demonstrated understanding of content performance analytics, viewer behavior, and industry metrics (e.g., Nielsen, Comscore, YouTube/OTT analytics).
+ Proven track record of developing successful, data-driven content strategies for cable or streaming platforms.
+ Demonstrated understanding of audience analytics, content performance metrics, and digital distribution trends.
Desired Characteristics:
+ 5+ years in a senior leadership capacity a plus.
+ Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
+ Experience managing large teams and budgets in a fast-paced, evolving media environment.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Marketing, or related field a plus; advanced degree preferred.
Additional Requirements:
+ Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
+ This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $200,000- $250,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible).
