About the Job
The Manager of Data Execution & Architecture is a hands-on leader responsible for implementing MLC’s enterprise Data Strategy and transitioning it into sustained, high-impact operations. This role plays a key part in transforming strategic intent into technical execution, delivering scalable data systems and enforcing governance practices that ensure data is secure, high-quality, and business-ready.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required.
Experience:
+ 5–8 years in data engineering, architecture, or governance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership position required.
+ Proven experience operationalizing enterprise data strategies and transitioning to long-term execution and support.
+ Exposure to both IT and OT environments in manufacturing or industrial sectors; experience in mineral mining is a plus.
Knowledge:
+ Strong command of data architecture design, data modeling, metadata, and MDM concepts.
+ Experience building and enforcing data governance frameworks that ensure data security, quality, and compliance.
+ Familiarity with cloud-native data ecosystems (e.g., Azure, AWS), analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI), and data pipeline tools.
Skills:
+ Excellent project execution and delivery skills—able to move quickly from planning to results.
+ Skilled in stakeholder engagement and translating business needs into technical implementation plans.
+ Hands-on knowledge of programming and data processing languages (e.g., SQL, Python).
Abilities:
+ Ability to manage implementation timelines, resources, and change management as part of a large-scale strategy rollout.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to building repeatable, reliable data systems.
+ Comfortable operating in a hybrid strategic-executional role, with a growth mindset for continuous optimization.
Essential Functions
Initial Implementation of Data Strategy:
+ Translate the enterprise Data Strategy into a phased implementation roadmap in collaboration with IT and business stakeholders.
+ Build the foundational data architecture—including medallion-style lakehouse structures, pipelines, and system integrations.
+ Establish initial governance processes, metadata standards, and data cataloging to enable secure and trusted data access.
+ Select and operationalize the tools necessary to support the architecture and business analytics needs.
Ongoing Execution & Governance Management:
+ Transition into steady-state ownership of data architecture performance, system reliability, and architectural integrity.
+ Maintain and evolve data governance policies, ensuring sustained data quality, regulatory compliance, and secure usage.
+ Lead a team responsible for managing data flows, monitoring pipelines, and resolving data issues.
+ Ensure continuous alignment of data systems with evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
+ Partner with analytics teams, operational leaders, and IT applications/hardware teams to ensure ongoing data availability, self-service access, and adoption.
+ Support end-user enablement and data literacy programs to maximize value from implemented data capabilities.
+ Provide updates to leadership on strategy progress, architecture health, and governance compliance.
Process Improvement & Optimization:
+ Monitor system performance, identify opportunities for automation and standardization, and drive improvements in data throughput and reliability.
+ Track usage metrics and governance KPIs to assess maturity and inform next-phase enhancements.
