    The Transportation Specialist will provide an elevated level of customer service to both internal and external customers and will work closely with material planners and transportation providers for Leica Biosystems Transportation. The incumbent in this role will function as an integral member of the Leica Biosystems Transportation Team and understands key business drivers. In conjunction with Transportation service, the Transportation Specialist will create and maintain an environment of continuous improvement and cost metrics, as well as focus on ensuring the continuous flow of material from international suppliers to/from Leica Biosystems facilities.

     

    This position is part of the Global Supply Chain Organization (GSC) located in Richmond, IL and will be on-site. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

     

    You will be a part of Global Supply Chain and report to the Transportation Manager responsible for leading all transportation activities for the Americas.     In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    + Work with cross-functional teams (Distribution Centers, Planning, Sales Teams, and Project/ Strategy) to identify and resolve issues.

    + Utilize Problem Solving Process methodology to determine root cause and counter measure analysis to problems impacting business performance.

    + Participates in strategic and continuous improvement plans to ensure business standards are met using Danaher Business Systems.

    The essential requirements of the job include:

    + Communicate effectively with Sales, Operations, Distribution, and Customer Service and explains complex information concerning any load/delivery issues as situations arise throughout the life of loads, while creating solutions to solve the problems moving forward.

    + Maintain superior carrier relationships and identify process improvements working with the receiving facilities and carriers.

    + Build consistent relationships and communications with transportation service providers and become knowledgeable of their strengths and weaknesses.

    + Oversee all inquiries on transportation delivery issues and follow steps for resolution per management directives.

    + Provide continuous improvement opportunities for both cost and service initiatives through data analysis with internal and external customer engagement.

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

    + Industry standards by mode (Road, Rail, Air and Ocean)

    + Experience in using ERP systems, SAP preferred. The ability to extract, clean, evaluate and model data.

    + Transportation Management System (TMS) with TMS activities including planning, freight, and freight payment. Lean management principles

    + Ability to prioritize and adjust work based on requirements.

    + 1-2 years SAP experience preferred.

     

    The salary range for this role is 75,000 to 85,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

     

    This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
