The Manufacturing Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the flow and kitting of materials within a manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient procurement, storage, distribution, and inventory management to support production and aftermarket schedules. This role involves supervising a team, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The supervisor plays a critical role in optimizing material handling processes to minimize costs and maximize productivity.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. An associate’s degree with significant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• 3-5 years of experience in materials management, inventory control, or a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as Bill of Materials (BOM) and drawings required.
• Proficiency in supply chain management software, inventory management systems (e.g., ERP, MRP), and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, RIE) required.
• Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities to optimize processes and troubleshoot issues.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30-50 lbs., stand for prolonged periods, and operate material handling equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks.
• Familiarity with OSHA guidelines, safety best practices, and industry-specific regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of raw materials, supplies, and equipment to meet production schedules while preventing overstocking or shortages.
• Lead, Train, and supervise a team of kitting associates, ensuring proper execution of kitting tasks and adherence to standard operating procedures. Oversee the assembly, organization and packaging of kits to ensure required components are included and meet quality standards. Collaborate with production, warehouse and procurement teams to align kitting schedules with production demands.
• Collaborate with sales, production, and customer service teams to resolve shipping issues and meet customer expectations.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels using systems like KANBAN or FIFO, monitor stock levels, and coordinate with purchasing and logistics teams.
• Lead, train, and evaluate a team of material handlers, warehouse staff, kitting, or logistics employees, fostering a productive and safe work environment.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve supply chain and kitting efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance material handling processes.
• Enforce safety regulations (e.g., OSHA guidelines) and ensure compliance with industry standards for material handling and storage.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality control departments to ensure timely availability of materials and resolve operational issues.
• Maintain accurate records of material movements, inventory counts, and receiving reports, using integrated manufacturing software systems.
• Troubleshoot operational roadblocks, such as supply chain disruptions or equipment issues, and make data-driven decisions to maintain workflow.
• Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material flow, kitting/aftermarket and team productivity, adjusting as needed.
• Participate in daily Management Daily improvement walks.
