Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Works with clients to develop and support custom web applications
+ Maintains applications, including security updates and other needs as they arise
+ Develops Drupal modules and other dynamic features for Student Affairs web applications
+ Uses version management strategies (Git) to work collaboratively and keep codebases up to date
+ Writes and updates detailed documentation about web applications and departmental procedures
+ Assists with maintaining web application security compliance
+ Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming, or Bachelor’s degree with some computer-related coursework from an appropriately accredited university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Journey level requires an additional six months of experience.
University Preferred Qualifications:
The technician band requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in the area of specialization, generally obtained from graduating from a technical school or community college with a degree in computer programming or graduation from a four-year college or university with twelve semester hours in programming. Experience in the field of work related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
+ Associate’s or bachelor’s degree with a focus in a technology-related field or relevant training and/or experience
+ 1 to 3 years of web applications development experience
+ Experience working in a Higher Education environment
+ Experience managing and developing web applications within the Drupal and/or WordPress Content Management Systems
+ Experience with CSS and/or JavaScript
+ Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN
+ Experience with MVC frameworks such as Drupal/WordPress, Symfony, or Laravel
+ Experience with database management systems such as MySQL, MariaDB, and/or PostgreSQL
+ Experience with Amazon Web Services ( AWS ) as a web hosting platform
+ Understanding of application security design principles and how they apply to the web and other applications
+ Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment and establish effective working relationships with all stakeholders
+ Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences from diverse backgrounds
+ Ability to learn and adapt to new and emerging technologies
+ Ability to multitask by working on medium and long-term projects while undertaking day-to-day operations
+ Carries out assignments in a timely manner and adapts to changing situations and priorities
