Job Description:
We are seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, and hands-on leader for the **Engineering Manager** position based at the Grand Prairie, TX plant. This position will be responsible for the new product development process and sustaining engineering projects. They will also be responsible to support sourcing and technical support. It will be important for them to quickly understand the construction market and customers, understanding key customer pain points, and mobilizing engineering resources. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong knowledge of customer-driven product development and be capable of leading teams to deliver innovative products and solutions that support Alpine’s long-term growth.
Roles and Responsibilities:
+ Product Development: Lead product development from the concept stage through refinement, prototyping and beta testing. Understand what drives the product requirements and how the team’s designs are able to allow our customers to be successful.
+ Product Lifecycle Management: Responsible for product lifecycle from launch through to maturity. Continues to monitor the product, competitive positioning, IP and technology through the lifecycle. Makes design changes as required to maintain compliance to regulatory standards and updated customer requirements. Ensure product and technical know-how and expertise are preserved in the business through talent and design guides.
+ Customer-Facing: Work directly with customers to identify and solve problems through innovative problem solving and product design to create sustainable differentiation. Ability to understand customer requirements and translate those requirements into product designs is required for effective performance in this position.
+ Apply ITW’s Customer Back Innovation Process (CBI) actively and continue to generate new opportunities.
+ Business Acumen: Ability to translate a customer’s professed needs and pain points into a design requirements document. Ability to create a value proposition, based on those design requirement and to create a strong business case for product development projects.
+ Work with other departments to establish short-term and long-term design, technology, product development and vendor strategies to drive profitable growth
+ Reviews the manufacturability of designs for fabrication, assembly, and potential tolerance issues and implements design changes to resolve and prevent issues
+ Leads team in problem solving efforts and implementation of effective corrective actions.
+ Able to be an advocate for a safe work environment. Looking for someone with knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure safety is at the forefront while working on projects.
+ Coaches, develops, motivates, and encourages the engineering team.
+ Works with the Intellectual Property Team and serves as the technical liaison to the company’s patent council.
+ Monitors manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for process enhancement or cost reduction. Prepares justifications and makes presentations.

Job Requirements:
+ Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
+ Must be proficient in the use of 3D modeling software and the creation of detailed drawings. (Preference for Creo and Windchill). Must understand how drawings and models are used by manufacturers and how tolerances can stack up
+ Basic knowledge of electrical and automation technologies required.
+ Experience with a stage gate development process. Alpine has a detailed process for product development that you will be required to learn and adhere to.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation, consultative skills, coaching, and presentation skills.
+ Experience with a formal quality/safety program is a plus.
+ Up to 15% travel required
