Job Summary and Qualifications

Utilizes Medical Technician skills and training to perform test of samples of blood, urine and other body fluids to obtain information utilized in diagnosis and evaluation of a patient’s medical situations. Performs laboratory tests and procedures, which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with supervision.

+ Familiar with all testing performed in the laboratory.

+ Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses ability to access data, interpret age-specific needs and provide care as described in the department’s policies and procedures.

+ Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist.

+ Meets mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually.

+ Displays courteous behavior and cooperative relationships with customers and co-workers.

+ Assist in various departments as needed. Performs testing on pending laboratory specimens.

+ Performs proficiency testing as needed. Calls and documents critical values.

+ Performs Quality Control as needed.

+ Maintains instruments.

+ Ability to draw blood in consideration of age-specific physiological factors.

+ Accurately report patient results.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Associate Degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological or Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT/CLT) from an accredited institution.

+ Or be qualified under CLIA guidelines as a MLT/CLT. MLT/CLT Certification preferred.

+ One to two years of experience preferred.

+ Good communication and basic computer skilled needed.
