An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an **R&D Analytical Technician II** within Honeywell UOP’s R&D Materials Characterization analytical laboratory group located in McCook, IL. This position provides a unique opportunity to analyze samples from ISC Manufacturing, across R&D, Pilot Plants and commercial refineries around the world.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Perform inorganic physical testing, and possibly elemental analyses, on in process and finished catalyst products from McCook Manufacturing
+ Perform analytical testing on catalysts from R&D for new product development, as well as commercial refineries.
+ Verifying data accuracy with quality assurance analyses and reporting data in LIMS.
+ Maintain laboratory instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
+ Provide coverage on some weekends, holidays, and evening hours as part of scheduled shift coverage.
+ Actively participate in laboratory safety program
The annual base salary range for this position is $25.38-$31.73 per Hr. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
Hours: Traditionally scheduled for day shift (candidates may occasionally be required to work extra hours, including some weekends and/or holidays, in order to support the laboratory and manufacturing operations at the pilot plant)

Key Responsibilities
+ Conduct experiments and tests under the guidance of engineers and scientists
+ Collect and analyze data, and prepare reports on findings
+ Assist in the development and improvement of prototypes and products
+ Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
+ Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
YOU MUST HAVE
+ Associates or higher degree in scientific discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, or Lab Science), or 2+ years of relevant experience in laboratory or chemical field may substitute for the educational requirements
WE VALUE
+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biology
+ Analytical chemistry experience in techniques such as ICP OES/MS, surface area, image analysis, Hg porosimetry, chemisorption, laser diffraction particle size, catalyst strength testing, piece density, and solids digestion procedures (microwave, ultrawave, hot plate).
+ Experience in an ISO90001 or GLP environment
+ Strong analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ Effective communication and teamwork skills.
+ Experience handling hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals
+ Knowledge of and adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
