    Summary

    This position is responsible for the support, management, security and monitoring of over 350 production and non-production Microsoft SQL Server deployments in a team environment. As a SQL Server DBA, we will rely on you to design and configure high availability environments, perform troubleshooting and performance analysis, test new database features, provide recommendations on future state architecture and automation opportunities and apply new versions, releases, and patches as necessary.

    What You'll Do

    • Provide primary support for SRP's on-premise enterprise SQL Server 2016-2022 environments

    • Architect and implement SQL database High Availability and Disaster Recovery strategies using AlwaysOn, replication, etc.

    • Perform SQL Server performance analysis which includes reviewing query plans, index usage, and TSQL code reviews

    • Work with developers and application support teams to create, modify, and tune database structures

    • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to identify solutions to complex problems and test/ implement new database features

    • Complete requests from application teams for database changes, security changes, data loads, etc.

    • Perform SQL Server software installations, patching and upgrades

    • Install and support SQL Server BI components including SSIS, SSRS and SSAS

    • Manage database backups and maintain disaster recovery policies and procedures

    • Support ongoing and future database projects based on technology roadmaps

    • Maintain configuration information for the enterprise SQL Server environment, including details for server, storage, software versions, criticality, confidentiality, licensing, capacity, and ownership

    • Provide scheduled rotational after hours on-call support

     

    What It Takes To Succeed

    Strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities

    • Excellent written/verbal communication, organization and documentation skills

    • Able to work independently and deliver high quality results when given a set of objectives/ requirements

    • Experience with Windows Server OS 2016/2019/2022

    Preferred skills

    o Working knowledge of DDL, DML, TSQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, constraints, cursors

    o Experience with PowerShell, including using PowerShell to automate repeatable tasks

    o Use of PowerShell DSC for automating SQL Server installations and configuration

    o Experience with Visual Studio for the creation and maintenance of SSRS reports and SSIS packages

    o Experience with dbaTools

    o Familiarity with Cohesity backup technology

    o Experience with RedGate for monitoring SQL Servers

    o Experience with Microsoft Azure SQL Database

    A minimum of five years experience as a SQL Server DBA is required

    Experience

    • For a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).

    Education

    A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

     

    Hybrid Workplace

     

    SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
