Description
Amazon Web Services is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead the Site-to-Site VPN service. You will innovate, enhance, develop, release, and operate one of the largest site connectivity services in the world. You will lead a team of talented and dedicated engineers as we develop the next generation data plane for IPsec connectivity. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and leadership to invent the future.
Key job responsibilities
* Lead feature development work on the team, including all phases of the software development lifecycle (e.g. design, implementation, review, build, test, release, operate).
* Demonstrate deep ownership of the operational responsibility for all aspects and components of the service.
* Provide feedback, technical guidance, and mentorship to your team members.
A day in the life
* Meet with and drive your team via standups, 1:1s, project and operational meetings
* Write, review, and revise technical designs, project plans, and operational documents
* Consult and partner with stakeholders in product, security, and other roles
* Participate in long term planning and roadmap development
About the team
This role will be responsible for the features, architecture, scaling, management, and operations of a major AWS service. You would partner with multiple other organizations and services within AWS Networking (Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPC, etc.) and establish relationships with product, support, security, and the field community, to delight our many customers.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
