• Electrical Test Engineer

    Actalent (Long Island City, NY)


    A leading innovator in the custom window treatment industry is seeking a Test Engineer to join its Commercial Business Unit in Long Island City, NY.

     

    This position plays a critical role in validating networked embedded electronics solutions and designing test equipment to support new product development, continuous improvement, and sustaining engineering.

     

    The role spans motors, controls, hardware, and software involved in the automation and integration of shading solutions in home and commercial environments.

     

    This is a fully onsite role with no remote work option.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement test programs and equipment.

    + Develop reusable and maintainable test fixtures and ensure smooth handoff to manufacturing.

    + Drive continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis.

    + Support electrical product and design engineering activities across multiple product lines.

    + Participate in strategic application development and integration with smart home systems (e.g., Alexa, Google Home).

    + Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., FCC, UL).

    + Contribute to design reviews and new product development using a structured stage-gate process.

    + Develop solutions for evaluating customer field complaints and implement cost reduction measures.

    + Maintain engineering documentation and participate in capital equipment planning.

    Must Haves:

    + Hands-On Test Engineering Experience

    + 2–5 years of industry experience in test engineering, particularly in consumer electronics or related fields.

    + Proven ability to test electronic systems, including firmware, software, and mechanical load testing.

    + Strong Troubleshooting & Technical Skills

    + Proficient in diagnosing digital and analog electronics down to the component level.

    + Comfortable with electronic calculations (Ohm’s Law, power, voltage, current, torque).

    + Familiar with networking fundamentals (IP addressing, DHCP, static IP).

    + Lab & Tools Proficiency

    + Experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), and other lab equipment.

    + Familiarity with LabView and National Instruments test systems is a strong plus.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

    + 2+ years of experience in test engineering, preferably in consumer electronics or related fields.

    + Experience with motors, controls, user interfaces, and software testing.

    + Strong troubleshooting skills in digital and analog electronics.

    + Proficiency in electronic calculations and familiarity with networking concepts (IP, DHCP, etc.).

    + Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and DMMs.

    + Experience with LabView and National Instruments systems is a plus.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
