    Financial Analyst I- Inventory Control

    Position Description:

    Performs central accounting and financial analysis functions according to established procedures.

    Major/Essential Functions:

    + Performs central accounting functions for the Property Management Office within Accounting Services, in accordance with established procedures and the State of Texas Comptroller's Property Accounting policies, to manage Texas Tech University's real and personal property. This position does not provide the oversight or analysis of real estate.

    + Assist in maintaining the property inventory system by reviewing and updating records for university capital and controlled assets. Data entry includes but is not limited to changing or recording locations, serial numbers, missing assets, and department transfers found during inventory reviews or otherwise. Assist with fixed asset data entry for asset additions, other updates, and disposals as assigned.

    + Perform inventory reviews for university departments to ensure accuracy and completeness of property inventory records. This includes setting review schedules, performing the inventory review, notating discrepancies and areas for improvement, researching asset records to correct discrepancies, following up with custodians and delegates throughout the review, and issuing a report of findings at the conclusion of each review. Ensure proper documentation is maintained for reviews and other projects assigned.

    + Respond to campus inquiries and address property management issues to support departments in their management of assets and annual inventory certifications. Educate university departments on property management procedures during inventory reviews and for annual inventory certifications.

    + Perform follow-up procedures after reviews to ensure recommendations are implemented and prepare status reports or other intermittent reporting as assigned. Maintain knowledge of current technology used for inventory reviews and annual inventory certifications, and work with Project Director, Property Manager, or others on enhancements as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience in higher education or governmental accounting. Experience in Ellucian Banner or other Enterprise Resource Planning system with a fixed asset module or other fixed asset management system. Experience with COGNOS or equivalent reporting database. Experience with physical inventory procedures and requirements.
