Western Psychiatric Hospital is in search of a Commitment Specialist to help coordinate the involuntary commitment process for patients across multiple units within the hospital. Responsibilities:

Admission Tracking

+ Monitor and verify accuracy of all inpatient service admissions.

+ Track admissions to assigned inpatient units for accuracy.

Legal Documentation & Compliance

+ Complete voluntary consent forms and involuntary petitions per regulatory standards.

+ Log and file involuntary commitment petition extensions on time.

+ Review court orders for commitment accuracy and report discrepancies.

Support & Communication

+ Serve as a resource for clinical staff on involuntary commitment procedures and relevant regulations (e.g., PA Mental Health Procedures Act).

+ Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold rights during the hearing and commitment process.

+ Communicate with the Coordinator, attending psychiatrist, and charge nurse regarding issues that may affect a patient’s legal status or hospitalization.

+ Associate Degree/Bachelor's Degree preferred, with at least 1 year behavioral health experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Knowledge of PA Mental Health Procedures Act preferred.

+ Excellent organizational skills and verbal communication skills are required.

+ Customer service skills are essential.

+ Computer keyboard skills required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

+ Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

+ Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

+ Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

+ Act 33 with renewal

+ Act 34 with renewal

+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
