    DESCRIPTION

    Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for retail and team development? Join our team as a **Unit Manager** and take charge of managing and developing a group of Retail Coverage Merchandisers and/or Store Reset Specialists and Coordinators. This role is pivotal in representing ACOSTA and our principals through retail store coverage, set coverage, or special projects, ensuring superior in-store results in assigned territories or stores.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    + **Sales Fundamentals:** Deliver sales fundamentals (distribution, shelving, and merchandising) goals across all principals on agreed-to retail priorities.

    + **Sales Results and Productivity:** Continually improve sales results and productivity of the retail selling organization.

    + **Policy Compliance:** Ensure company policies are followed by directly managed associates, including proper maintenance of all company-owned equipment, accurate and timely expense reporting, and activity reporting within company guidelines.

    + **Client Collaboration:** Work with clients to achieve in-store results in line with client and company expectations.

    + **Retail Initiatives:** Collaborate with Sales Manager and clients on all major retail initiatives, such as new product introductions and contests.

    + **Value Communication:** Communicate the value added by ACOSTA retail to clients and team management.

    + **Reporting Systems:** Utilize and fully understand Acosta retail reports and reporting systems, including MEI retail reports and Retail Scorecards.

    + **Expert Resource:** Serve as an expert resource to Team Leader, General Manager, and Business Managers on the effectiveness of both full-time and part-time sales personnel.

    + **Territory Responsibilities:** Communicate retail territory responsibilities to the MEI admin team to ensure accuracy in the reporting systems.

    + **Technology Utilization:** Effectively and accurately use technology, including MEI, to communicate retail priorities and coverage analyses, maintaining an effective feedback and measurement system.

    + **Data Analysis:** Request and analyze specific retail conditions information to develop data-based analyses and improve retail in-store presence results.

    + **Team Development:** Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the personal development of Retail associates and conduct annual Performance Agreements. Train and develop full-time and part-time representatives.

    + **Selling Effectiveness:** Understand and optimize selling effectiveness in assigned territories. Identify training needs, desired system, and work process improvements, and maintain an effective balance of store set/surge work and retail store coverage.

    + **Recruiting and Retention:** Conduct ongoing recruiting and retain members of the Retail selling organization.

    + **Incident Management:** Maintain incident files for all Retail Coverage Merchandisers in accordance with company policy. Handle special projects as requested by the Sales Manager.

    + **Data-Driven Decisions:** Use data to drive business decisions.

    + **Field and Admin Work:** Spend three days a week in the field working in grocery stores and two days a week on administrative tasks (this may change with business/client needs).

    + **Travel:** Overnight travel required monthly (company will reimburse essential business expenses based on travel/budget policies).

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + **Education:** High School diploma or equivalent.

    + **Experience:** Prior food broker, retail, and set responsibility experience required.

    + **Skills:** Basic Office functionality comprehension (Outlook and Excel), proficiency in managing Outlook email and calendar, basic workbooks and pivot tables in Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI (willing to train).

    + **Interpersonal Skills:** Strong interpersonal, organizational, and sales skills.

    + **Communication:** Effective communication with others.

    + **Technical Skills:** Ability to operate a computer, calculator, fax machine, telephone, paper cutter, copier, hammer, screwdriver, drill, case cutter, hand truck, and pallet jack.

    + **Driver’s License:** Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a car for extended periods of time.

    + **Environmental Conditions:** Willing and able to work in extremely cold environmental conditions (i.e., refrigerated and freezer sections of retail stores).
