    Caterpillar Safety Services works to continuously improve the safety of our teammates, Cat dealers and customers through solutions that build safety resilience. We are looking for a dynamic, curious, inclusive and collaborative facilitator to join our global consulting team as a Senior Culture and Leadership Consultant.

     

    Caterpillar has been on our own journey to continuously improve our safety performance by treating it as a manageable business function. We are also in the business, through our Safety Services team, of helping customers across numerous industries transform their safety culture and sustain safety resilience. We do this through solutions that drive development in the components of a resilient safety culture – Mindset, System, Leadership and Ownership. Our tools, programs and processes have been proven internally and with Cat dealers and customers around the world.

     

    As a Senior Culture and Leadership Consultant, you will be responsible for the execution of customer contracts secured by Caterpillar Safety Services. You will work directly with customers – at their locations, and virtually – to guide them through assessments, facilitate strategic planning, lead developmental workshops, guide process improvement teams, and deliver one-on-one coaching and other consultative activities. Internally, you will build relationships within the Caterpillar Enterprise to foster the continuous improvement of our safety culture, and to build awareness about the expertise and solutions Safety Services can bring to customers in any industry.

    What you will do:

    • Lead the customer consulting relationship once a contract is in place, including scheduling all deliverables. This requires close collaboration with the Consulting Project Coordinator and Industry Account Manager(s) to ensure effective scheduling and coordination of resources, and eventually to identify repeat business and/or referral opportunities.

    • In collaboration with the Industry Account Manager, formulate a long-term vision and strategic plan with each customer.

    • Lead the fulfillment of all contract deliverables for assigned customers, utilizing standard materials and processes.

    • Develop relationships with customer executives and key influencers to ensure effective leadership of safety culture initiatives and the allocation and deployment of resources necessary for success.

    • Coach leaders to embrace and demonstrate a visible commitment to safety; direct and oversee the development of systems of accountability; and guide employee-led continuous improvement teams through the development and deployment of leading indicator processes that integrate safety into every part of the business.

    • Support the overall continuous improvement of the customer’s safety culture as measured by leading indicators, lagging indicators and other approved metrics.

    • Collaborate with individual team members from multiple functional disciplines (consulting, account management, product support and administration) to identify opportunities for process and materials improvement and participate in projects to continually enhance and grow Caterpillar culture and leadership solutions.

    • Consistently demonstrate and role-model Caterpillar Values, and the values and behaviors expressed and taught by Caterpillar Safety Services. Demonstrate these values in customer-facing work and internal interactions. Recognize, through appropriate feedback, the demonstration of these values by fellow team members and customer contacts.

    • Extensive travel required (up to 75% of working time). This position requires a high degree of accountability to achieve performance targets while working independently. Non-travel office time will be utilized to complete tasks and projects which support customer-facing work, generate repeat and new business and contribute to Caterpillar team development.

Exceptional **training/facilitation skills** -dynamic engagement style that fosters open conversation, problem-solving and learning by diverse teams. Facilitates creation of the 'right' products and services to resolve customer business issues.

    **Effective Communications:** Experienced in crafting and delivering compelling oral presentations to diverse audiences, utilizing effective communication techniques, visual aids, and storytelling strategies to ensure engagement and clarity. Exceptional human relations and interpersonal communication skills.

    **Service Excellence:** Polished and professional presentation style demonstrating the ability to command an audience with confidence and credibility. Strong business management acumen.

    **Collaborating:** Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

    **Consulting:** Knowledge of techniques, roles, and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients, both internal and external; ability to apply consulting knowledge appropriately.

    **Decision Making and Critical Thinking:** Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

    **Problem Solving:** Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

    **Relationship Management:** Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

    Top Candidates will also have:

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Management, Environmental Health and Safety Management, Psychology, Human Resources, Communications.

     

    Experience developing a safety management strategy.

     

    Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention experience.

     

    Experience applying Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles.

     

    Technical writing skills and experience, particularly in survey data interpretation.

     

    Continuous improvement, lean and change management experience.

     

    Operations experience in an oversight position with a track record of safety improvement.

     

    Certifications in safety management.

    Additional Information:

    This position requires travel up to 75% and work in the Tucson, AZ, Portland, OR or Peoria, IL office when not traveling to or working on customer sites.

     

    Domestic relocation is available.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $126,000.00 - $189,000.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
