    The Behavioral Health Clinical Strategy Intern provides data-backed strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities related to the Behavioral Health clinical strategies that improve member health outcomes, experience, cost, and quality. This is a remote opportunity to join a growing team within Humana and work on complex and interesting questions while getting experience and exposure across the enterprise.

     

    The Clinical Strategy team employs a rigorous process to set specific clinical priorities for the enterprise. They identify the greatest sources of value and lead a multi-disciplinary process to identify opportunities for enhanced clinical outcomes, cost control, quality, and member experience.

     

    In this context, the Behavioral Health Clinical Strategy Intern uses their clinical background and strategy experience to identify and analyze issues related to behavioral health using data and insight from internal and external sources. Working closely with associates and leaders from across the enterprise, they solicit input and make recommendations to advance key initiatives within the Behavioral Health strategy. They will promote innovative solutions and work with enterprise partners internally to improve our members access to quality behavioral health care. With aligned partners, they help translate strategic recommendations into execution plans for implementation with operational leaders.

    + Clinical acumen in Behavioral Health.

    + Comfort assessing initiatives and vendors within Behavioral Health space.

    + Experience with a multidisciplinary group with a common purpose.

    + Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

    + Ability to communicate effectively with all levels including senior leadership.

    + Proven skills influencing others and a track record of success working through ambiguity.

    + Strong business acumen and analytical skills

    + Skill in developing and delivering persuasive presentations.

    + Independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks.

    Required Qualifications

    + 4+ years Clinical experience in Behavioral Health, MD/DO preferred

    + Bachelor's degree

    + 2 or more years of progressive experience in strategy, execution and/or study design

    + Project leadership experience

    + Prior experience working on population clinical outcomes within or adjacent to a payor organization.

    + Financial modeling experience

    + Competency with Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel)

    + Participation in this internship requires that you are in the continental United States.

    + Must not require sponsorship to work in the United States either now or in the future

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Completion of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree; medical licensure or completion of residency is not required

    + Exposure or experience implementing interventions for behavioral health, clinical care delivery, and/or pharmacy

     

    Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

    Pay Range

     

    The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

     

    $37,440 - $87,500 per year
