Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to work across various departments, including warehouse accounting, pricing, trade development, and executive management, in a dynamic multi-state environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct monthly and annual expense analyses, including identifying General Ledger reclassifications and accruals in adherence to company policies.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Reconcile monthly gross profit between financial and distribution systems to maintain consistency.
• Compile and distribute financial statements and reports on a monthly basis.
• Analyze budget versus actual expenses to identify discrepancies and opportunities for optimization.
• Reconcile General Ledger accounts monthly, addressing errors, write-offs, or items requiring managerial review.
• Collaborate with critical suppliers and manage aging accounts in alignment with corporate directives, including bank reconciliations and forecasting potential deficits.
• Prepare and file various tax reports on a monthly basis, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the annual budget forecasting process to support strategic planning.
• Process reconciliations for petty cash, monthly spoils, commissions, and incentives, including submissions to payroll. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and related concepts such as fixed assets, deferred charges, prepaid expenses, accruals, and payroll.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in General Ledger reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with advanced skills.
• Strong data entry accuracy and 10-key by touch expertise.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present analytical insights effectively.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and highly organized, capable of working independently to meet tight deadlines.
