Our client in Downtown Pittsburgh is looking for a Business Continuity Planner for a contract to hire positions. The position plays a critical role in supporting the coordination, planning, operations, training, and project execution within the Emergency Management and Business Continuity department. This position supports corporate preparedness by developing, maintaining, and improving business continuity and emergency response plans, conducting training and exercises, and assisting in the response to business disruptions. The incumbent works closely with internal stakeholders and the Manager of Corporate Emergency Management and Business Continuity to ensure the organization’s resilience during emergencies and continuity of operations. FULLY ONSITE, hours: 8AM - 5PM. Pay depending on experience: $18-24
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of emergency management and business continuity plans that guide recovery decision-making, crisis communications, and departmental continuity strategies.
Collaborate with the Emergency Management and Business Continuity Coordinator to ensure critical business functions can resume quickly after disruptions; assist in identifying non-critical functions that may be temporarily suspended.
Support planning efforts related to business recovery, emergency management, crisis management, contingency planning, and disaster preparedness.
Provide operational support during live emergency events and business disruption incidents.
Maintain and update Incident Response Plans, ensuring effectiveness and alignment with corporate needs. Track associated corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
Establish and manage systems that support effective communication and coordination during emergency situations or disasters.
Evaluate existing business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management plans. Recommend improvements to enhance resilience and align with industry standards and best practices.
Monitor and ensure compliance with government regulations and codes applicable to business continuity and emergency preparedness planning.
Identify strategic opportunities to mitigate risks related to business disruptions and regulatory or industry-specific changes.
Develop tools to support operations, such as operational checklists and job action sheets, to guide department-specific recovery tasks.
Design, develop, and deliver Business Continuity Planning (BCP) training sessions, awareness campaigns, and educational materials for internal stakeholders.
Participate in, or lead, exercises and simulations to test response capabilities and refine continuity strategies.
Serve as a key contributor to departmental projects and special initiatives as assigned.
Respond to business disruption events, which may require availability outside standard working hours, including nights, weekends, or extended shifts under stressful conditions.

Organizational & Risk Responsibilities:
Act as a risk manager by identifying, reporting, managing, and monitoring daily risks in alignment with enterprise risk management framework.
Ensure adherence to regulatory laws, guidelines, and company compliance procedures, maintaining a strong culture of compliance throughout all business continuity activities.
