• Substation Drafter

    Actalent (Phoenix, AZ)


    Actalent is currently seeking a qualified substation drafter for a position in Phoenix AZ. In this role you will be instrumental in preparing structural and electrical drawings for energy infrastructure projects. Collaborate with engineers and consultants to create high-quality drawings for high voltage equipment, structures, foundations, and electrical schematics. Contribute to various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, report preparation, specifications, and proposal and construction documentation as part of a dedicated project team.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform CAD drafting for all engineering products and deliverables.

    + Collaborate with engineers and other drafters to resolve discrepancies in drawings and designs.

    + Draft substation layouts, sections, structural and foundation details, bill of materials, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.

    + Update documentation including checklists, drawing lists, conduit schedules, circuit schedules, drawing requests, and project tracking using Microsoft Excel and Word.

    + Self-check all work to ensure accuracy before submission for review.

    + Meet project schedule and quality requirements, ensuring drawings are completed accurately and promptly.

    + Handle multiple projects concurrently and adapt to changes in work assignments.

    + Assist in the delivery of complete projects, including communication and correspondence, and attending meetings.

    + Provide interdepartmental support as needed.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in AutoCAD.

    + Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications for engineering drawings.

    + Basic knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems.

    + Knowledge of protection and controls (P&C).

    + Understanding of substation vernacular.

    + Basic knowledge in the theory and practices of engineering discipline.

    + Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline project team environment.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with MicroStation.

    + Experience with Revit.

    + Experience with Inventor.

    + Understanding of terms like base mapping and right of way.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
