    Summary

    This position exists to ensure efficient operation of all electrical and process control instrumentation on campus. This includes maintenance, sanitation, troubleshooting and repair of all electrical equipment on site. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the electrical equipment throughout the plant and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.

     

    + The Electrical Technical Lead is a primary member of the electrical department team, this lead is accountable to the Maintenance Manager and Electrical Supervisor.

    + This individual must have a working knowledge of safe work practices, plant equipment, trouble shooting and repair procedures, and equipment installation under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisors, and other members of management. Technician will ensure production equipment is properly configured and set to desired controls to assist with meeting desired operational efficiencies and goals.

    + The individual in this position will possess a working knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance concepts and procedures, plant equipment maintenance practices and procedures, as well as perform electrical technical training. The individual must be able to perform electrical repairs and installations under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Manager.

    + The individual in this position will oversee the quality of electrical and provide Electrical Supervisors direct feedback on that quality. They will evaluate after the fact actions, as well as in-progress maintenance, ensuring quality standards are met and proper procedures followed and utilized. The Electrical Technical Lead will stop improper maintenance procedures, provide training and report the situation to the Electrical Supervisor. The individual in this position will also provide direct input to the maintenance team in the search for constant improvement.

    + The individual in this position will create job plans to help assist the sorter technician and electronic technician. They will meet with technician and third-party contractor to ensure that we have the correct materials and information to complete the job. They will work with the electrical supervisor on jobs that need to be planned for the upcoming weeks. They will document what needs to be done on the job and give the technician the correct paperwork to complete the job. They will work with a third-party electrical contractor as they would with the electronic technician.

    + The area of work includes inside the facility and outside, depending on work requirements. Weekend and overtime work in this position is common and may be required to meet operational goals. This position requires the ability to work in extreme environments of both hot and cold.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Perform maintenance follow ups to ensure correct procedures are being utilized and completed maintenance meets expectations and quality standards. Report findings the Maintenance Supervisors and Manager

    + Both in-progress (over the shoulder) and completed maintenance actions

    + In progress will focus on:

    + Correct procedures being used/followed

    + Safety requirements and guidelines being met/followed

    + GMP requirements and guidelines being met/followed

    + Food Safety requirements and guidelines being met/followed

    + Applicable SOPs are being followed

    + Proper tool selection and use

    + Sense of urgency is being displayed (without compromising safety)

    + Completed maintenance actions will focus on:

    + Repairs meets standards and specifications.

    + Loose, missing and/or improper hardware.

    + Electrical components are mounted correctly.

    + No apparent issues that should have been identified and/or fixed during the repair action.

    1. Provide maintenance training and certification as follows (this list is not all inclusive)

    1. Megging wires and motors

    2. Ammonia detectors

    3. PLC and instrumentation

    4. Weigh Belts

    1. Other duties as assigned to include maintenance activities to keep the plant running

    Typical Education

    Associates of Applied Science degree required in controls and instrumentation or possess current Journeyman Electrician License Preferred.

    Relevant Experience

    + Strong working knowledge of:

    + Electrical troubleshooting and repair.

    + Predictive and preventive maintenance practices.

    + Safe work practices and equipment operation.

    + Ability to train and mentor other technicians.

    + Excellent communication and organizational skills.

    Other Information

    + 3+year or relevant experience preferred.

    + A combination of education and experience will be considered.

    + Must be able to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals in small areas.

    + Must be able to tell time and be able to convert regular time to military time.

    + Must be able to use a computer and successfully navigate through various applications. Must be proficient at computer system data entry.

    + Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks on a regular basis.

    + Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.

    + Must be able to work in extreme environments (cold, hot, humid and slippery). Must be able to work under challenging conditions such as hot and cold air, wet environments, hot and cold water, hot oil, slick floors and work around various industrial chemicals, inside and outside the plant in a safe manner.

    + Must be able to identify hazards and report to appropriate personnel.

    + Must have an acceptable attendance record.

    + Must have an acceptable safety record.

    + Must be able to work in stressful situations.
