Groot, Inc.** , a Waste Connections company, has an immediate opening for a **2nd Shift - Lead Diesel Mechanic** to join our team in **Elgin** **, Illinois.

Our Diesel Mechanic will work directly with the Maintenance Manager to ensure safe diagnostics and repair of our truck fleet and equipment. We seek individuals with a leadership mentality and desire to grow with promotional opportunities in this role.

**Schedule:** 2pm until 10pm plus overtime as needed, Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Performs repairs (including electrical and hydraulic systems) and assigned preventive maintenance services.

+ Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.

+ Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

+ Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

+ Reviews and completes repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

+ Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

+ Other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

+ At least 5 years of diesel mechanic experience.

+ Ability to work in all weather conditions.

+ Ability to lift at least 50lbs repeatedly.
