Job Summary
Full time role as a medical assistant to a busy Pediatric Urology office/clinic located at Primary Children’s Hospital.

**This position is considered Category I:** Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at (insert work site) if they are healthy and without COVID -19 symptoms.
Responsibilities
Job duties include but are not limited to: interacting with patients, performing both clinical and administrative tasks such as taking vital signs, answering phones, scheduling appointments, helping doctors, coworkers and patients have an exceptional experience. Must have very strong multi-tasking skills.
Other duties may include:
1. Preparing patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures such as recording temperatures, pulse rate, blood pressure and responding to standardized medical history questions.
2. Monitoring and cleaning assigned patient examination rooms, unit areas and unit equipment. Completing inventory of supplies and reporting necessary equipment repairs.
3. Assisting in patient and family education by providing educational material and general health information.
4. Acting as a chaperone for health care providers during patient examination, as requested, and assisting with procedures.
5. Answering telephones, triaging phone calls, and sending messages. Scheduling appointments, procedures and diagnostic tests.
6. Performing additional skills such as stent removal and straight catheterization.
7. Coordinating referrals and obtaining pre-authorization from insurance companies for medications, supplies and treatments.
8. Completing patient registration, assisting patient with co-pays and account balances, and reconciling daily cash reports.
9. Reporting observed patient concerns and changes in condition to a licensed staff member.
10. Attending and completing mandatory in-services including infection control, safety, CPR , equipment usage and procedures according to hospital and department policies.
11. Assisting in routine clerical functions such as documentation of medical information in patients’ records, locating and compiling charts, and obtaining medical records from other providers.
12. Performing other administrative duties, projects, and committee assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Required:
+ Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
+ One of the following:
1. Current Advanced EMT certification with the State of Utah.
2. Current certification to practice as a Paramedic in the State of Utah.
3. Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant ( CMA ) through AAMA
4. Currently credentialed in ABR -OE (Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry) through AAMA .
5. Current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant ( RMA ) through AMT
6. Current certification as a National Certified Medical Assistant ( NCMA ) through NCCT .
7. Current Clinical Medical Assistant Certification through NHA .
8. Current certification as a NRCMA – Medical Assistant through the National Association for Health Professionals.
+ If candidate is not certified upon hire, they must have completed an accredited Medical Assisting program before date of hire.
+ One of the indicated certifications must be obtained within six months of hire.
Preferences
Pediatric Urology is seeking someone with a positive attitude and good work ethic who is willing to learn new things. Someone who has the ability to multi-task and has strong computer skills. Experience working with patients and using EMRs.
Also preferred:
Knowledgeable in EPIC , Help2 and iCentra EMRs
