About this position:
As a condition of employment, all applicants are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Job Type: Full Time, Onsite
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM, with limited after hours and weekends as required
Farwest Steel's Quality Assurance department seeks a knowledgeable and dependable individual to join their team as Steel Division Quality Manager. This position is responsible for leading quality assurance and control efforts across all Steel Division operations, ensuring that products meet both internal standards and customer specifications. The role requires a strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, quality systems, and team leadership to drive continuous improvement, compliance, and product integrity. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional departments and uphold Farwest’s commitment to excellence and safety.
Key Responsibilities for this role include:
+ Lead the QA/QC team for the Steel Division, ensuring thorough inspections and accurate documentation.
+ Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures, SOPs, and work instructions.
+ Perform root cause analysis and lead corrective/preventive action (CAPA) initiatives for non-conformance issues.
+ Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Programming, and Purchasing to align quality expectations across the supply chain.
+ Prepare for and lead internal/external audits; manage follow-up actions and reporting.
+ Oversee calibration and proper use of inspection and testing equipment.
+ Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality, scrap, and rework.
+ Provide training, support, and leadership to quality control and production staff.
+ Maintain accurate documentation to support inventory traceability and quality records.
+ Attend cross-functional meetings on quality and process improvement.
+ Travel to other Farwest branch locations as needed, including occasional overnight stays.
Minimal Qualifications
+ High school diploma or GED required.
+ At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality control, or steel production.
+ Prior supervisory or team lead experience in a warehouse or production environment.
+ Proficiency with inventory and quality management systems and Microsoft Office.
+ Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
+ Willingness to travel occasionally for audits or training.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Participate in new product development and introduction processes.
+ Support inventory counts and discrepancy resolutions.
+ Attend cross-functional meetings on quality and process improvement.
+ Travel to other Farwest branch locations as needed, including occasional overnight stays.
