The Team You’ll Work With
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Housing, Economic Development, and Workforce oversees the City’s housing, economic development, cultural, planning, and workforce agencies, and works to create a more vibrant and equitable New York City.
The Problems You’ll Solve
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Housing, Economic Development, and Workforce is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Policy Advisor to provide policy analysis for initiatives across the portfolio and administrative support for the Deputy Mayor. The role will report to the Executive Director for Economic Development and will be responsible for helping coordinate, implement, and successfully complete multiple projects within the Deputy Mayor’s portfolio. The role will report directly to the coordinator, closely with Senior Advisors across the portfolio, and provide administrative, policy, and outreach support for the Deputy Mayor or Chief of Staff as needed.
Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Research & Analysis – Assist other staff members in performing qualitative and quantitative research in connection with policy proposals, legislation, and initiatives. Based on that analysis, this person will make recommendations to relevant staff members.
- Project Management – In coordination with appropriate City agencies and team members, oversee and monitor agency and City Hall priorities, legislation, budget, and policy initiatives to ensure that goals and timelines are met.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the First Deputy Mayor, providing timely and relevant updates on key cultural, tourism, and related policy issues.
- Internal/External Stakeholder Communication – Represent the administration in meetings with stakeholders, including government officials, cultural leaders, community organizations, and industry professionals.
- Interagency Coordination – Foster collaboration between the cultural, tourism, economic development, and community sectors to build synergies and enhance the city’s role as a global leader and cultural hub. Coordinate with agencies, boards, commissions, and organizations as needed for special projects, operations, and implementation.
Research & Analysis – Assist other staff members in performing qualitative and quantitative research in connection with policy proposals, legislation, and initiatives. Based on that analysis, this person will make recommendations to relevant staff members.
- Project Management – In coordination with appropriate City agencies and team members, assist in supporting and monitoring projects, legislation, and policy initiatives to ensure that goals and timelines are met. Coordinate with agencies, boards, commissions, and organizations relevant to economic development and land use as needed.
- Internal/External Stakeholder Communication – Support interactions with stakeholders to communicate and receive feedback on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the Office of the Deputy Mayor. Create talking points and speeches as needed.
- General Support – As needed, prepare briefing memoranda, provide background research and information, coordinate meeting planning and assistance, and respond to correspondence from constituents or elected officials.
About You
- You have a bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of work experience in a relevant field (or 1+ years with a graduate degree).
- You have the ability to work independently and within a fast-paced environment, as well as thrive in a collaborative and supportive team.
- You are a self-starter who positively contributes to a learning culture and collaborative team and is willing to perform the full range of tasks required in a dynamic and rapidly responsive organization.
- You have the ability to quickly absorb complex concepts and communicate them in a concise manner.
- You have a thorough knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- You have exceptional written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
- You have experience working with the agencies in the portfolio, a strong plus.

Qualifications
1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?
2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?
3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?
4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?

Salary Min: $ 70,000.00
Salary Max: $ 85,000.00
