Summary:
BigBox is seeking an experienced Art Manager to drive the next compute platform of games in mixed reality and mobile. This role calls for a collaborative communicator who loves iteration and technical process seeking to understand a product holistically and can contribute creatively, knowing when to be pragmatic and when to be blue sky. This person will make product strategy trade-offs that align with business objectives while embracing teamwork, as well as solve problems.

Art Manager Responsibilities:
1. Art Team Coach - Provide specific feedback, balance constructive and critical feedback, and identify growth opportunities for the team and the studio
2. Results-Oriented Execution - Focus on helping the team achieve their goals by removing obstacles, teaching new approaches, and leading by example by working hands on alongside artists on the team
3. Work with the team to manage day-to-day tasks and communications
4. Work closely with the team’s leadership to set high-level goals and direction for our projects and ensure execution is successful
5. Lead the effort to leverage new GenAI tools for Art and Content creation. Identify opportunities, prototype, and establish new pipelines and workflows and roll them out to the team
6. Create and maintain asset delivery schedules and collaborate with producers and leads Managers to keep deliverables on track
7. Effective Communication - Engage in active listening, share information transparently, and encourage open dialogue
8. Coordinate with all disciplines to schedule and track key work development
9. Have a clear vision and strategy for the team - Set clear goals, provide feedback, and ensure the team is executing quality, timely work and understands how their role fits into the larger picture
10. Leverage art experience and skills to steer team - Work closely with the artists to understand the challenges the team faces and provide informed guidance based on experience and best practices
11. Support career development and discuss performance - Help team members with their career paths, provide growth opportunities, and have regular performance discussions
Minimum Qualifications:

12. 10+ years experience leading internal art teams
13. Experience bringing multiple game titles from concept through live operations as an Art Leader and as Individual Contributor
14. Experience with Maya (or, 3D Studio Max), Photoshop, Perforce, ZBrush, and game engines like Unity or Unreal
15. Experience working with AI models, or working with pipelines that leverage AI in content creation
16. Results-oriented coach and mentor with a track record of growing artists’ skills and bringing out their best work
17. Experience communicating goals and feedback in an effective, constructive, and efficient manner
18. Understanding of art production, process, pipelines and tools across related disciplines
19. Experience working strategically or tactically, understanding when to delegate and isn’t afraid to roll up sleeves and work in the details to drive the best outcome
20. Experienced team leader ready to inspire and focus the team to deliver visually stunning work while learning new technologies and approaches to content creation
21. Experience working with outsourcing partners across different locations and time zones.
22. Experience adapting to various communication and work styles
23. Demonstrated history of working well with cross-functional teams and organizations
24. A broad hands-on experience as a production artist in a game studio, is familiar with game development, engines, pipelines, GenAI tools, and is interested in leading and growing a team of highly-skilled artists

Public Compensation:
$175,000/year to $236,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
