The Executive Director (ED) of Perioperative Services is a transformational nursing leader with 24/7 responsibility for the strategic management of a large portfolio of surgical, perioperative, and procedural services. This may include some ambulatory and/or support practices. The ED of Perioperative Services leads the organization's highest revenue-generating service line, and therefore must have significant business acumen, including supply chain and vendor management. The ED is the leadership link for translating the organization's vision and annual operating plan to the daily work of front-line leaders. Additionally, responsible for implementing and overseeing highly reliable, safe, and well-coordinated care that aligns with the SJHS annual operating plan and strategic plan. Mastery of the AONL© executive nurse competencies of communication and relationship management, knowledge of the healthcare environment, leadership, professionalism, and business skills/principles is fundamental to the executive director role.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead program operations, growth strategy, and service integration across the continuum of care.
+ Develop and manage budgets, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal responsibility.
+ Collaborate with leadership to implement services in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and research.
+ Monitor volumes, case mix, and payor trends to guide planning and funding opportunities.
+ Participate in national databases (ACC, STS) to track and improve outcomes.
+ Foster internal and external partnerships, including physician alignment and community engagement.
+ Support grant writing and fundraising efforts to enhance program sustainability.
+ Oversee departmental leadership functions: hiring, training, performance management, and employee development.
+ Performs other related duties as needed to support the mission and goals of the organization.
Requirements:
**E** **du** **ca** **t** **i** **on** **:** Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, healthcare or business. Master's Degree in Business Administration, Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
**L** **ice** **n** **s** **u** **r** **e:** None.
**E** **x** **p** **e** **r** **ie** **n** **c** **e:** At least 5 years of Cardiovascular or service line experience. At least 3-5 years of management experience with progressively increasing level of responsibility.
