Based in our Sidney, Ohio location, the manufacturing designer will work inside the corporate advanced manufacturing engineering (AME) department designing and delivering solutions that optimize cost, capital investment, and system performance. Through creativity and applying a strong mechanical aptitude the candidate will conceptualize, generate, and propose design concepts in a cross functional environment. In collaboration with our product engineering, manufacturing engineering and operations team, you will provide designs for manufacturing and automation solutions for new product development programs and new automated manufacturing processes. The manufacturing designer will research and monitor manufacturing industry trends and digital technologies to implement best in class solutions for our global manufacturing facilities in HVAC-R Technologies.
AS A DESIGN ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
- Lead and execute conceptual layouts for new assembly lines, manufacturing processes, & plants.
- Collaborate with product development groups to address industry trends and leverage design for manufacturing expertise to ensure all aspects of safety, quality, and performance are achieved.
- Work with cross functional teams to design and simulate complete automated system solutions that optimize cost & capital investment.
- Design manufacturing equipment, work-holding, and fixturing for high volume assembly and machining operations using NX 3-D modeling software
- Lead and participate in manufacturing equipment and tooling design reviews with internal and outside system integrators.
- Optimize processes for digital manufacturing design & simulations within HVACR digital transformation initiatives.
- Travel up to 15% (North American travel to the US/Mexico).
REQUIRED** **EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering. Associates degree with equivalent work experience would also be considered
- Two (2) years’ experience in manufacturing engineering environment
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to apply creative thinking to solve complex problems.
- Good organizational, project management, and presentation skills to interact with internal engineers and external vendors.
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships in a team environment focusing on win-win solutions
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment
- Has a strong mechanical background & experience with mechanical systems
- Experience with a 3D CAD software (examples: NX, Creo, CATIA, SolidWorks)
- Experience and working knowledge of PC applications and Microsoft Office Products
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- Experience in high volume manufacturing tooling/fixturing design
- Experience in machine & manufacturing design
- Experience in designing and simulating automation systems
- Ability to recognize and solve complex issues in mechanical design
- Five (5) years using NX Modeling software
- Experience working with Teamcenter PLM software
- In depth knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Experience with the design & manufacture of high-speed rotating products
Collaboration First Hybrid Work Arrangements:
This role is hybrid eligible with the requirement to be in office at least three days per week. Please note, this role will start as full-time in the office as a new hire acclimates to the role and can transition to a hybrid schedule over time. Timing to be determined by the hiring manager. Colleagues are expected to demonstrate a collaboration first mindset, which is the understanding that teams will work together in-person and colleagues should be flexible to adjust their hybrid days based on business needs. You will have an opportunity to work with your team and leader to determine when you should be in office to drive meaningful connections and to best serve our customers.
