    Job Description:

    The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer II. The Software Engineer II position is responsible for the deployment and maintenance of the CI/CD pipeline for application development. Work to improve and adapt the pipeline to meet ongoing security requirements, coordinate application area testing/implementation.

     

    This position is based out of the NAIC’s Kansas City, MO office. This is a full-time hybrid-remote position, in a positive and flexible environment. Residency within 100 miles of the Kansas City, Missouri office is required, along with in-office work as scheduled. 

    Key Responsibilities

    + Develop applications based on business and technical requirements

    + Implement application design by utilizing development languages and tools

    + Develop and execute unit tests for assigned projects

    + Ensure the code is scalable and meets performance requirements for assigned projects through performance tuning

    Management Responsibilities

    + This position does not have direct reports.

     

    Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Experience

     

    Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Computer Science or Associates degree in Applied Science specific to Computer Science, and three plus years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

    Systems & Technology Requirements

    + J2EE practices and design patterns and frameworks (Java 8 and above)

    + Spring Boot and JPA.

    + REST API experience.

    + Oracle SQL or equivalent SQL experience.

    + HTML / CSS / JavaScript.

    + Git (or other source code management tools)

    + Strong problem solving and debugging skills.

    + Frontend and backend development

    Travel Requirements

    Must be able and willing to travel to locations throughout the United States and with such frequency as necessary to meet the needs of this position and the Association.

     

    Compensation

     

    Salary offer range is $62,408 - $85,000, commensurate with experience and education.
