The University of Maine at Presque Isle Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program invites applications for multiple Part-Time Faculty positions within the PTA program. This is an on-campus position.
This role will include instruction in the core classes of the PTA program, which are a combination of lecture and lab classes. The collective core faculty are responsible for assuring that students are
professional, competent, safe, and ready to progress to clinical education. The ideal candidate will possess creative skills and experience in multiple areas of physical therapy practice, technical proficiency, and commitment to fostering the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: teaching in various formats such as distance or blended formats, syllabus development aligned with departmental expectations, course and assignment design, grading, office hours, correspondence with students, use of the online learning management system, course coordination meetings with other faculty members, and required orientation and trainings. Part-time faculty may be rehired for subsequent semesters based on course availability, schedule, funding, and performance. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable university policies.
Essential duties also include:
+ Instructions in the didactic and lab components of core PTA courses
+ Assisting program director and ACCE in administrative duties as necessary
+ Advising students in the cohort
Required Qualifications
+ Education: Must have completed an accredited PTA or PT program and hold an unrestricted license. For PTA, an additional bachelor’s degree in exercise science (or clinically relevant field) is preferred.
+ Experience: Minimum 1 year clinical experience. Experience in working with students in a formal academic setting, or as a clinical instructor, is preferred.
Salary is per credit hour and commensurate with qualifications and previous experience, in accordance with the PATFA contract.
