Description We are looking for an experienced Mutual Fund Accountant to join our team in Bethesda, Maryland. In this long-term contract role, you will apply your expertise in investment accounting, particularly in private market investments, to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with complex financial instruments and contribute to a dynamic financial services environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounting activities related to private market investments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
• Review and analyze investment documents to support financial reporting and decision-making processes.
• Reconcile cash activity and maintain accurate records of transactions across multiple accounts.
• Monitor and process corporate actions, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
• Utilize accounting software systems and tools such as Bloomberg Terminal and Concur to streamline financial operations.
• Conduct data mining and analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Prepare detailed reports on bonds, mutual funds, and other financial instruments for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Support month-end and quarter-end closing processes by preparing necessary journal entries and reconciliations.
• Assist in developing and maintaining procedures to enhance the efficiency of accounting functions. Requirements • Proven experience in accounting, with a focus on investment accounting or mutual fund operations.
• Familiarity with private market investments and related documentation.
• Proficiency in using accounting software systems, including Bloomberg Terminal and Concur.
• Strong understanding of financial instruments such as bonds and mutual funds.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze cash activity and reconcile accounts accurately.
• Knowledge of corporate actions and their impact on financial records.
• Experience with data mining techniques and financial analysis.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
