Description
Our client—an innovative leader in the biotechnology field—is seeking an HR Specialist to join their Carlsbad headquarters. This role is perfect for an HR professional passionate about supporting teams that work toward groundbreaking scientific discoveries. The HR Specialist will focus on talent management, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement in a highly regulated and fast-evolving industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Onboarding:
+ Collaborate with scientific and leadership teams to develop job descriptions and execute recruiting strategies for specialized roles.
+ Ensure pre-employment processes, such as background checks and laboratory safety clearances, are completed in adherence to regulatory standards.
+ Lead new hire orientation sessions designed to integrate employees into the company’s mission-driven culture.
HR Operations and Talent Management:
+ Administer HR policies and procedures while providing day-to-day operational support to management and staff.
+ Oversee timelines for performance reviews and talent mapping for key biotechnology roles.
+ Ensure HR records are maintained accurately in systems like Oracle HCM or similar platforms, paying close attention to regulatory compliance, such as FDA or HIPAA standards.
Compliance & Diversity Initiatives:
+ Ensure compliance with federal and state labor regulations, OSHA biological safety standards, and internal ethics programs.
+ Contribute to company diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives by organizing biotech-focused DEI training programs and events.
Employee Relations and Corporate Culture:
+ Foster a positive and inclusive culture through collaboration with leadership and employees at all levels.
+ Lead efforts to address workplace concerns, resolve conflicts, and assist with disciplinary processes as needed.
+ Track employee engagement metrics and collaborate with senior leaders to implement retention strategies.
Training and Development:
+ Support professional development plans, coordinating opportunities for trademarked training and skill advancement aligned with the biotech industry.
+ Prepare and execute career pathway programs focused on scientific research and innovation career fields.
Requirements
+ 3–5 years of HR experience with expertise in biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries.
+ Strong familiarity with employment laws and compliance in a regulated environment.
+ Exceptional analytical skills with a track record of managing workforce performance and engagement metrics.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
+ Relevant certifications (SPHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) are highly desired.
