    Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team, in the Houston area. The ideal candidate will have over 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing, managing, and maintaining enterprise-level IT infrastructure. This role will focus on Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, VMware, and backup and storage solutions, ensuring the organization’s systems are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance.

     

    As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the company’s IT infrastructure, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to critical IT projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Infrastructure Management

    + Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level systems, including Active Directory environments.

    + Manage on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure, focusing on Microsoft Azure.

    + Monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure the health and performance of systems, storage, and networks.

    + Virtualization and Cloud Computing

    + Administer and maintain VMware infrastructure, including virtualization of servers and applications.

    + Optimize cloud and virtualization resources for cost-effectiveness and scalability.

    + Backup and Storage Solutions

    + Manage and monitor backup systems to ensure data integrity, availability, and compliance with recovery objectives.

    + Design and maintain storage solutions for efficient data management and accessibility.

    + Active Directory Administration

    + Maintain and enhance Active Directory configurations, group policies, and user/group management.

    + Ensure proper identity and access management (IAM) protocols are in place and maintain secure integrations.

    + Collaboration and Support

    + Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders on infrastructure planning, executing technical projects, and enhancing system performance.

    + Provide Tier 3 support for technical issues and serve as a subject matter expert for the assigned domains (e.g., AD, Azure, VMware, Storage).

    + Security and Compliance

    + Implement security practices, including patch management, to protect against vulnerabilities in systems, backups, and networks.

    + Ensure all systems comply with organizational and regulatory security standards.

    Requirements

    Required Skills and Qualifications

     

    + Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role.

    + Expertise in the following technologies:

    + Active Directory: Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management.

    + Microsoft Azure: Cloud infrastructure, Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), and cloud-driven solutions.

    + VMware: Proficiency with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and virtual machine deployment.

    + Backup and Storage: Experience designing and managing enterprise backup systems and storage architectures.

    + Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP), and enterprise security best practices.

    + Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell) is a plus.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Certifications such as:

    + Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

    + VMware Certified Professional (VCP).

    + Certification in backup or storage technologies (e.g., Veritas, NetBackup).

    + Experience with identity management solutions and hybrid environments (e.g., on-premise AD and Azure AD integration).

    + Adept at working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities.
