Description Our client, is hiring a Senior Payroll Specialist.
Job Type: Full time- Contract to hire
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Payroll Specialist with 10–15 years of hands-on payroll processing experience to join their growing team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of complex payroll functions, oversee compliance with labor laws, and ensure accuracy in payroll environments. You'll be acting as a trusted point of contact for payroll inquiries. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to make a meaningful impact on a dynamic organization.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead and process payroll for 50+ employees.
Oversee all payroll activities, such as salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive pay calculations, ensuring 100% compliance with policies and procedures
Audit payroll data for accuracy and integrity, including employee time tracking, benefits deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, staying updated on tax codes, overtime laws, and payroll-related legislative changes.
Perform regular payroll reconciliations, including journal entries, month-end accruals, and ledger postings, in collaboration with the Accounting team.
Manage payroll tax filings at the federal and state levels, handling notices and resolving discrepancies with tax authorities.
Create and deliver payroll reports or ad hoc analysis to finance and HR teams as needed.
Lead and support year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation, audits, and reconciliation of accounts.
Recommend and implement system or process improvements to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and facilitate error-free payroll.
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred.
10–15 years of payroll processing experience in mid-sized to large organizations.
Extensive hands-on experience with payroll platforms such as ADP, Workday, UKG (formerly Kronos/Ultimate Software), or Ceridian.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of multi-state payroll compliance and regulations; global payroll experience is a bonus.
Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUPs).
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
Proven ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
High ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
