The Opportunity
The Tax Analyst II will be a member of Ally's Tax team. The position will focus primarily on assisting with the day-to-day management of state income and franchise tax compliance, as well as the associated accounting and forecasting. The position will require interaction with the corporate accounting and finance groups, as well as other business groups within the company and will report directly to a Manager.

The Work Itself
* Ensure timely and accurate filing of state income and franchise tax estimates and extensions including processing payments
* Support the preparation and review of state and local income tax apportionment information
* Assist with the preparation and review of state income and franchise tax returns and maintain relationship with service provider
* Preparation of state income and franchise tax forecasts including bank required stress tests
* Preparation of quarterly and annual U.S. state income tax provision, state blended income tax rate calculations, and state provision-to-return analysis
* Maintain schedules of federal and state tax differences
* Preparation of tax account reconciliations
* Provide support in the review, documentation and analysis of new state tax laws and regulations
* Assist with the preparation of responses to various tax audits and with responses to notices regarding state tax issues
* Provide analytical tax and accounting support to internal business partners
* Assist in identification and implementation of process enhancements
* Assist with other projects as necessary
The Skills You Bring
* Bachelor’s degree required (accounting major preferred); MBA/MS in Accounting preferred
* Minimum of one year of tax, accounting, or related experience. Some public accounting is preferred but not required.
* Sound technical tax and/or accounting skills for area of expertise
* Ability to organize data, conduct tax research, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to management
* Strong computer skills, especially Excel including the use of advanced formulas (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, etc.). Knowledge of OneSource Tax Products is a plus
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with professionals at all levels
* Solid organization skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as a contributing team member

An individual's position in the range is determined by the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.
