    The hours and location you’ll work in as a Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic with WM:

    + Sunday - Thursday every week

    + Start time is 4:30pm

    Each day you’ll fix the trucks and heavy equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA. As a Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic **,** you can take pride in watching a truck roll out of the shop, knowing your local community will be supported by your hard work. Our mechanics take their careers to the next level by working on equipment that requires a high level of skill – and determination. You’ll be using modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on both diesel heavy equipment and, at some locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.

    Here’s more of what you’ll do:

    + Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

    + Dismantles, and instructs less experienced mechanics in the dismantling of, devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

    + Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

    + Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

    + Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

    + Repairs or replaces defective parts.

    + Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

    + Lubricates and cleans parts.

    + Starts devices to test their performance.

    + Operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

    + Coordinates purchase orders for parts and machines.

    + Repairs electrical equipment.

    + Assists or directs less experienced heavy equipment mechanics as required.

    What do you need to be considered for the role of Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic

    + 4 years of relevant work experience

    + Experience with CAT diagnosing tools/systems

    + A valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record

    + Be over 18 years of age.

    + Legally eligible to work in the United States

    + Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

    + Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
