Position Summary and Focus
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a Senior Advisor to work with our Advanced Grid Technologies and National Transmission Strategies group. This role will have a technical focus on High Voltage DC and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), and Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETS) with a secondary emphasis on the regulatory and policy side of the power transmission business. The position will be based in POWER’s Advisory Services (ADS) business unit. **This is a remote position.**
This role focuses on working on important FACTS & HVDC projects around the world integrating renewable resources stabilizing power systems and delivering/controlling power to designated areas. You will support our clients by performing front-end engineering design activities, developing technical specifications, evaluating tenders, reviewing design submissions, witnessing factory tests, and supporting commissioning activities.
This cutting-edge position as Senior Advisor will require broad and deep knowledge of the grid technologies mentioned. This person will provide advisory services to electric utilities, project developers, system operators, and guidance to our client’s senior management with a focus on developing our client’s initiatives and projects.
This role will be client-facing therefore verbal and written communication skills will be important to success in this position. Expect to work on developing many large and a few small projects, produce cost estimates, schedules and be responsible for the coordination of the project deliverables.
The position will also participate in business development activities, participate in industry association committees, write technical papers as well as prepare and present technical presentations.
Fundamental Duties
+ Performs duties with little to no supervision as required by project risk
+ Works with established & new clients of all sizes to identify and win work
+ Writes/creates/delivers technical reports, memos, and presentations and is a strong communicator to a variety of audiences
+ Responsible for financial, technical, and commercial success of projects
+ Responsible for recruiting, managing, and mentoring a team of less experienced advisors according to the annual ADS Business plan
+ Support ADS Marketing Goals through developing and delivering content for publications, industry reports, podcasts, and speaking engagements
+ Supports Business Unit Director in the development of annual business plan
Job Qualifications
+ 12+ years of applicable energy industry experience with strong technical aptitude
+ Bachelor's Degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or other related field required
+ PE or MBA required, both preferred
Demonstrated experience in the following areas required:
Technical:
+ Prepares a variety of complex technical analyses, reports, and other types of deliverables
+ Strong ability to research and compile large amounts of data quickly and independently
+ Serves as a technical specialist and has knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in multiple practice areas
+ Assists in the preparation of business cases and cost-benefit analyses
+ Actively fosters knowledge management and provides mentoring
Business:
+ Development of overall project execution plan and sequencing of activities to facilitate efficient and organized execution of the work
+ Organizes and oversees the implementation of POWER’s quality process on project work to produce deliverables that meet our client’s quality expectations
+ Responsible for financial success of their projects
+ Support the development of strategic plans for clients in the energy industry including business case
+ Typically leads advisory engagements with complex technical challenges
+ Actively fosters knowledge management and provides mentoring
+ Assists in Proposal development and other business functions as needed. Responsible for Financial success of their projects
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills using English language
Leadership:
+ May manage direct reports (Analyst - Advisor III)
+ Manages recruitment and hiring & retention of new Advisors into their group
+ Adhere to ADS mission and vision statements
Client Engagement:
+ Trusted Advisor with Clients
+ Develops and fosters working relationships with client Sr Leadership and peers via conferences, project meetings, and office visits
+ Identifies potential clients of interest and develops plans to win work in coordination with other Directors and ADS Leadership
+ Coordinates with other divisions BD teams as needed to support Advisory Opportunities
+ Coordinates with other divisions ALs DMs, & BUDs to secure resources to support Advisory Opportunities as needed
Other:
+ Leads POWER Contract review process
+ Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned

Base Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $230,000.00 per year
The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
