YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Global Development Innovation Lead are to:

The Global Development Innovation Lead will play a critical role in identifying, prioritizing, and securing funding for critical technology initiatives (bi-lateral and multi-lateral) that align with the organization's strategic goals with a broad cross-divisional scope. This role will collaborate closely with the Global Director of Development Finance, the Global R&D External Innovation & Partnerships team, Corporate Sustainability & Strategic Engagement, and the Bayer Foundation to ensure that funding strategies are optimized to support the development, acceleration, and roll-out of cutting-edge technologies with commercial value and social impact. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of technology trends, a strong technical background, a proven track record in multistakeholder ecosystem management and mobilization of funding from various sources.

Technology Strategy and Prioritization:

+ Develop a systematic approach to explore funding opportunities in the pre-competitive space for business development, technology acceleration, validation & commercial translation (focus on industrial policy and state intervention).

External Stakeholder management:

+ Act as the Chief Technology & Innovation Liaison with external partners. The scope of action will cover governmental institutions (including IFI’s, National Development and Federal Agencies, and CGIAR).

Internal Stakeholder Management:

+ Liaison with business leaders, technical teams, and in-country stakeholders to identify critical technology areas that align with the organization's strategic objectives.

Technology & Innovation Roadmap:

+ Develop a comprehensive technology roadmap, prioritizing initiatives based on their potential impact, feasibility, and alignment with funding opportunities. In agriculture, focus on the breeding and biotech PRECEON SCS, Nitrogen efficiency in corn, Plenexos, ICAFOLIN, HT4 soybean, CoverCress, and FieldView. In health, focus on contraceptives, NCD and prenatal vitamins.

Direct Innovation Strategy with the World Bank:

+ Revamp evolving innovation landscape in the WBG and develop new spaces to position Bayer’s priorities as well as influence their investment focus to align with Bayer’s business goals.

Resource Allocation:

+ Allocate resources effectively to maximize the impact of funding investments. Utilize mobilized funds to cost-share the salaries of high-skilled personnel associated with the external innovation portfolio, attracting and retaining top talent.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

+ Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy new technical capabilities, develop people and teams and lead through influence;

+ Proven record of innovation and applying emerging technologies to provide real world solutions;

+ Highly driven, organized, and with great agility to manage portfolios across multiple functions;

+ Superior understanding of change management, with an ability to analyze and drive change across a wide range of stakeholders;

+ Excellent team- and relationship-building abilities, with both internal and external parties (engineers, data scientists, business partners, etc.);

+ Demonstrated ability to lead in ambiguous situations with minimal direction.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with 15+ yrs. of experience or master’s degree with 12+ yrs. of experience or PhD with 8+ yrs. of professional and/or post doc. experience in a science, engineering, technology discipline or equivalent;

+ 5+ years of related experience in technology-based business application, strategic alliances, and public-private partnerships.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $177,628 to $266,442. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.

**This position can be located at one of the Bayer Innovation Centers** .
