    Role Purpose Develop and deploy a continuously improving and sustainable business operating system that delivers present and future customer requirements for quality. Act as the final authority on all quality and risk related matters within the business. Be the voice of the customer in exceeding their quality expectations and take a leading role in assuring product safety. Ensure the company complies with all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security legislation. Key member of the site Leadership Team, providing business support and strategic direction. Key Responsibilities Quality: o Develop and/or deploy a quality vision and strategy with clear objectives, which is aligned with the business vision and customer requirements. o Create and maintain a balanced quality organization to ensure its capability to sustain planning, control and improvement activities. o Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System aligned with Driveline Excellence System requirements (including ISO/TS16949 and ISO 9001). o Define quality targets and lead quality CI (continuous improvement) plans and projects to deliver safe, high quality products and services. o Approve and respond directly to customer or internal PCR/deviations. o Report all internal GKN and customer concerns, including escalation of priority concerns and lessons learned. o Provide a site calibration service for gauges and checking fixtures. o Promote the use of statistical techniques and quality tools (SPC, PPS, 8D, 3A, Fishbone, 5 WHY, 6sigma, error proofing, etc.) and best practices to solve problems and prevent quality concerns. o Support organizational capability by providing resources, and developing skills and competencies of quality employees. o Act as management representative of QHSE and promote quality objectives to the management team. o Carry out a management review of the quality management system to ensure continuing suitability and effectiveness. o Own the authority to stop production in the case of serious quality concerns. Risk: o Support a safe working environment. Utilize statistical analysis to assess risk and take corrective action. o Ensure all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security procedures are adhered to. Continuously improve procedures, keeping them up to date with current legislation and standards. o Responsible for ensuring that risk assessments are carried out to the required standard. o Responsible for the management of Ergonomics and Manual Handling throughout the site. o Manage risk profiling (Zurich Hazard Analysis) and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken. Role Profile 2 EN-GKN-DL-RP-QUA-01-Quality & Risk Manager – Feb 2016 o Manage timely use of ERM process and appropriate follow-up action. o Ensure investigations take place and report on serious accidents. o Coordinate activities to meet with environmental health standards. o Advise all levels of Management on Health and Safety and Security matters. o Provide service, on call out, in the event of serious fire, safety, or security incidents outside normal hours. o Plan and maintain adherence to international HSE standards (ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001). o Ensure energy management compliance to ISO 50001, as applicable. o Facilitate auditing of the plant’s HSE systems and processes Product Safety: o Protect the end customer (driver, passengers, bystanders) against unreasonable risk of accident, injury, or death because of a defect in design, manufacturing, or specifications of GKN’s products while meeting all legal & OEM safety requirements. o Contribute to a proactive product safety culture that enables the design, manufacturing, and quality systems to prevent and detect potential safety defects. o Follow GKN’s standard for special characteristic management at GKN and our suppliers. o Ensure product safety compliance to ISO/TS16949 for quality management, ISO26262 for functional safety, and Automotive SPICE for software process capability. o Immediately report Potential Product Safety and Integrity (PPSI) concerns to the Quality Manager in production or the Chief Engineer in development. o Act quickly to prevent escapes to our customers and the market with a goal for zero recalls or field actions. o Immediately report to GKN Legal any injury or death of a person involving a GKN Driveline product. o Reflect globally on PPSI lessons learned to avoid repeat issues. o In addition to the roles for all employees, the Quality Manager has a special role during production to be the functional safety leader for the program: • Lead PFMEA action plans to meet the Occurrence vs Severity risk matrix defined in GKN’s Special Characteristic Management procedure. • Implement MDM PFMEA and process templates to ensure lessons learned are applied to new programs. • Conduct regular production and product checks of current production in order to validate the product’s special characteristics including any product or process deviations. • Implement immediate containment during production when a PPSI is identified and lead the PPSI permanent corrective action process. • Stop series production if a known safety concern cannot be contained. People Management: o Develop a diverse and inclusive team aligned to GKN philosophy. o Motivate team by setting challenging and achievable goals. Communicate business strategy and update team on the roadmap to excellence. o Create a culture of Engagement where all employees have the tools they need to do their job well and have the opportunity to contribute to improvement through employee involvement.
