    The Product Design & Development Specialist is responsible for designing new products and enhancing existing ones through hands-on prototyping, testing, and detailed CAD work. This role bridges the gap between concept and production by developing functional designs, building and evaluating prototypes, and working closely with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure products meet performance, quality, and cost objectives.

    _Requirements:_

    + Develop and launch innovative products with strong functionality, value, and aesthetics.

    + Enhance existing product lines by creating improvements, extensions, and custom solutions.

    + Provide engineering support to customers, sales, and operations for new and current products.

    + Ensure product quality and consistency through precise drawings, specifications, and change management.

    + Manage projects effectively to meet timelines and budgets.

    + Design, prototype, and test products to meet functional and aesthetic standards.

    + Optimize existing products focusing on cost, manufacturability, and performance.

    + Produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation for production and customers.

    + Build, assemble, and evaluate prototypes before production investments.

    + Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to solve design and production challenges.

    + High level of maturity and confidence necessary to interact with sophisticated internal and external clients

    + Strong leadership and customer service skills with the ability to ensure that a high level of service and quality is maintained

    + Product knowledge with clear technical understanding of services to be able to effectively communicate to customer

    + Excellent project management, organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and meet deadlines

    + Outstanding attention to detail, flexibility and creativity

    + Persistence coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

    + Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment, work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality of shared information and/or assignments

    _Requirements:_

    + Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

    + 5+ years of product design and development experience.

    + Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and 3D modeling.

    + Experience with prototyping, testing, and hands-on product evaluation.

    + Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal, extrusion, and plastics.

    + Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.

    + Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and other 3D rendering programs.

    + Ability to create detailed technical drawings and follow best drafting practices.

    + Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills.

    + Effective problem-solving skills and conceptual thinking.

    + Strong communication and collaboration skills, contributing to a dynamic and creative team environment.

     

    Salary estimate: $80,000.00 based on experience, education and geographic location. This role is bonus eligible.
