    The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center \(LAIC\) team is seeking an individual with a strong working knowledge in software engineering, Unreal Engine 5 \(UE5\) development and augmented/virtual/mixed/extended reality \(XR\) to support the Applied AI Mission Management team and product portfolio focusing on the Cognitive Mission Manager and JADO Center of Gravity programs\. The team is focused on developing small, innovative teams to rapidly iterate and mature solutions from prototypes to production for utilization across the enterprise and the field for our customers\.

     

    The selected candidate will focus on the development of simulation environments using Unreal Engine 5 that leverages artificial intelligence agents and tools as well as XR interface capabilities\. This will require engagement in every phase of the software/system development lifecycle including requirements generation, system and software design, implementation, testing and integration\. Activities will range from low TRL research, proof of concepts, rapid prototyping and transition to production\. The selected candidate can expect to have exposure to the latest AI paradigms in generative AI and reinforcement learning \(RL\) to create high fidelity training and simulation environments for a wide range of applications\.

    The team’s preference is for a candidate who will be based near any major Lockheed Martin facility \(e\.g\. Denver, Fort Worth, Valley Forge, or Orlando\) with the option to work remotely\.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, other Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college, or equivalent experience, with 5 years of professional experience or 3 years of professional experience with a related master’s degree\.

     

    Strong expertise in Unreal Engine 5, including its core systems, Blueprints, C\+\+ and the latest UE5 features such as Nanite, Reinforcement Learning and Chaos physics\.

     

    Extensive experience in developing real\-time, interactive 3D applications \(games, simulations or virtual experiences\)\.

     

    Strong expertise in modern C\+\+ programming with experience in performance tuning, multi\-threading and memory management\.

     

    Must be a U\.S Citizen

    Desired Skills:

    Experience with common C\+\+ build tools such as Visual C\+\+ Build Tools, CMake, GCC, etc\.

     

    Experience with integrated development environments \(IDE\) such as Visual Studio, VS Code and Unreal Editor\.

     

    Experience with version control systems such as Git or Perforce\.

     

    Experience with multi\-platform game development \(PC, AR/VR/MR/XR\) and Unreal Server configurations\.

     

    Strong understanding of 3D object/asset composition \(mesh, materials, shading, etc\.\)\.

     

    Familiarity with additional Unreal Engine tools such as Sequence or World Composition\.

     

    Experience with networking and multiplayer game architecture in Unreal Engine 5\.

     

    Familiarity with artificial intelligence/machine learning principles and applications such as generative AI and reinforcement learning\.

     

    A proven capability to collaborate across departments and work effectively in a team\-orientated environment\.

     

    Strong problem\-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new challenges\.

     

    Experience leading small to medium sized SW development teams\.

     

    Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor less experience engineers\.

    **Ability to Work Remotely:** Part\-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility\. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process\.

    **Work Schedules:** Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees\. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed\. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits\.

    **Schedule for this Position:** 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

    **Pay Rate:** The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York \(excluding most major metropolitan areas\), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $97,100 \- $171,235\. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location\. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only\. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as \(but not limited to\) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer\. **Benefits offered:** Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short\-Term Disability, Long\-Term Disability, 401\(k\) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays\. \(Washington state applicants only\) Non\-represented full\-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off \(PTO\) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays\. Represented full time employees accrue 6\.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays\. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year\. This position is incentive plan eligible\.
