Description
We are looking for a Policy Manager, Public Policy, who will help lead government affairs and public policy programs.
The Policy Manager will be responsible for developing and executing on a policymaker engagement program for Amazon’s senior executives related to our policy priorities at the state and federal levels. The Policy Manager will work closely with Amazon’s senior executives and will implement strategies to represent Amazon before high levels of government.
In helping to set the public policy and advocacy agenda for Amazon, the Policy Manager will work collaboratively and transparently with others in public policy and business units to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals.
The Policy Manager will work closely with internal communications teams to draft policy papers and talking points on a range of topics.
This position will be based in Arlington, VA.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least 8 years experience with lobbying and/or commensurate government affairs experience.
- An ability and desire to travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience managing policy-related engagements for senior corporate executives.
- Prior experience with steep learning curves, and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
- Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and political levels. Prior experience in communications preferred.
- Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
- Self-starter with proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across organization and culture.
- Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is required. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.
