• Assistant Controller (LUV)

    Robert Half Finance & Accounting (Atlanta, GA)


    Description

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Assistant Controller to support the financial leadership of our organization. This position plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, supporting month-end close, and contributing to process improvements across the finance function. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong technical accounting skills and the ability to lead and mentor a small team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process to ensure accuracy and timeliness

    + Oversee general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

    + Prepare and review financial statements and internal reports for accuracy and completeness

    + Support budgeting and forecasting processes alongside FP& A

    + Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external audit requirements

    + Partner with the Controller to implement process improvements and ERP optimization

    + Mentor and develop junior accounting staff; provide training as needed

    + Assist with tax preparation, audits, and regulatory filings

    + Research technical accounting issues and ensure compliance with US GAAP

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

    + 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience; public/private mix a plus

    + Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls

    + Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle)

    + Advanced Excel skills; ability to analyze large datasets

    + Proven ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities

    + Strong communication and leadership skills
