Brief Position Overview
The Associate Director Operations provides daily leadership and oversight for all Campus Recreation operations within the new Student Wellness Center ( SWC ), Outdoor Recreation Center, and Lambert grass and turf field complex. The new Student Wellness Center is a 165,000 square foot facility encompassing recreation and clinical care that enhances the integrated and holistic model of student health and wellbeing at MSU .
Serving on the Campus Recreation leadership team, this role plays an important part in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, student development, emergency action procedures, and risk management practices. This position reports directly to the Director of Campus Recreation but will work closely with the Director of Student Wellness Facilities and Operations, and maintains a collaborative partnership with MSU Facilities Management, Sports Facilities and Auxiliary Services.

General Statement
The Student Wellness area is within Student Success at MSU Bozeman. Student Wellness provides support and services for student and community health and wellbeing at MSU and is comprised of three major departments: Student Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services and Campus Recreation.
Campus Recreation encourages personal development, enhances academic productivity, and enriches wellbeing for students and the MSU Community. Campus Recreation is comprised of Fitness Programs, Competitive Sports, Outdoor Recreation, Activity Classes ( ACT ), Member Services, and assists with Student Wellness Center Operations.
The Associate Director Operations provides daily leadership and oversight for all indoor and outdoor Campus Recreation operations. Additional oversight includes the Outdoor Recreation Center, and Lambert turf and grass field complex under Campus Recreation.
This position will be organizationally situated in the department of Campus Recreation and will also serve on the Operations team for the whole Student Wellness Center. The position is responsible for supervising a full-time Operations Coordinator, Member Services Coordinator, Aquatics Coordinator and Student Building Supervisors.

Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
+ Collaborate with Student Wellness leadership and operations teams by serving as part of the Campus Recreation Leadership.
Operations Management:
+ Work closely with the Director of Student Wellness Facilities & Operations in matters of facility operations and maintenance.
+ Help oversee Campus Rec maintenance and laundry services and associated standard operating procedures.
+ Create and enforce operational and user policies, procedures, and guidelines for all user groups. Help review rental fees, staffing systems and special events/rental services.
+ Oversight of all Campus Rec user agreements, contracts, payments, and member services to include use of Fusion member database and associated sales processes.
+ Develop, maintain, enforce and report policies and standards of safety and risk management. Help serve as a safety coordinator for the building.
+ Utilize project management and productivity tracking tools, such as Fusion, Connect2, Trello, Teams, or similar platforms, to effectively plan, track, and report on departmental projects, ensuring timely completion and clear communication across teams.
+ Maintain a collaborative and participatory relationship with Montana State University Facilities Management and Auxiliary Services areas.
Staff Supervision:
+ Provide leadership, mentorship, and management to all assigned employees. Create an environment that fosters collaboration and encourages a growth mindset.
Student Development:
+ Hire, train, mentor and manage Student Building Supervisor team, assist with the oversight of all operations of student employees.
+ Contribute to department and enterprise wide, common initiatives, i.e. student leadership training, on-boarding processes, staff education, connection and engagement.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
+ Demonstrated professional experience working in facilities and operations management.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Master’s degree in Recreation, Exercise and Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field.
+ At least three years of professional experience in recreation facility operations, event management, and staff supervision.
+ Professional experience with facility scheduling and related operational software such as Fusion.

+ Ability to take direction, contribute to team discussion and work independently with strong attention to detail.
+ Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with students, staff, and faculty from all levels of the university.
+ Motivated by student engagement and development opportunities.
+ Eager to be a part of operating the Student Wellness Center and creating and maintaining infrastructure, associated systems, strategies, and assets that contribute to the bold new vision for Student Wellbeing at MSU .
