S ummary
A Senior Engineering Director Level 1 will demonstrate their ability to work both independently and in t eam settings , along with the ability to manage a diverse selection of projects simultaneously. This candidate will have a proven ability to take a proactive role in a commissioning position.
Responsibilities
Assists in evaluating designs from a commissioning perspective. Determine and address potential issues early in the design cycle of MTA C&D projects.
Acts independently and is familiar with the NYCT field environment.
Familiar ity with mechanical controls and associated trouble shooting.
Prepares, reviews , and assists in the development of operations and maintenance manuals .
Develops or reviews project-specific testing and acceptance procedures.
Attends regular field walk-throughs, startups, pre- functional , and functional testing.
Troubleshooting problems arising from accommodating new systems into existing transit Hydraulics and HVAC i nfrastructure.
Provides commissioning inspection support and engineering oversight on active construction projects.
Works with the Project Design team from conceptual design through design, construction, testing, acceptance , and closeout administrative matters.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in the appropriate Engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Communications, Track, Signals, Environmental, Fire Protection).
Masters preferred.
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience .
Must have a minimum of six (6) years in a management or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.
Competencies:
A registered NYS licensed professional engineer (PE) is required.
Experience in large -scale engineering issues for major construction projects or projects with highly complex systems i s preferred.
Experience leading and managing designers, contractors, subcontractors, and/or vendors.
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable industry and NYS building and design codes and standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal levels within the organization to drive project/program outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to work in a high - profile, high - pressure environment effectively.
Must have focus and ability to deliver results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.
Must possess excellent team - building , listening, problem - solving, and prioritization skills.
Alternate Delivery experience preferred.
Proficiency in current design and engineering software and Microsoft Office are required.

Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines.
