Job Announcement: Temporary Case Worker (Bilingual – Mandarin/Cantonese)
Locations: Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, Rego Park, and Flushing
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Duration: Mid-June to Mid-September 2025
Queens Community House (QCH) is seeking a compassionate and qualified Temporary Case Worker, fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese, to support older adults across several sites. This position is ideal for someone passionate about social services, benefits advocacy, and community engagement within New York City’s diverse aging population.
Role Overview:
The Temporary Case Worker will be stationed at various QCH Older Adult Centers and provide case assistance, benefits counseling, and client referrals. They will support clients in completing and renewing benefit applications, conduct telephone wellness checks, and contribute to building a strong, supportive community network for older adults.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Conduct client interviews to assess needs in areas such as personal adjustment, finances, and health.
+ Assist with benefits applications, recertifications, and eligibility screenings.
+ Register new participants and support engagement in program services.
+ Maintain accurate, timely case notes with clear documentation of client issues and follow-up actions.
+ Make reassurance and outreach calls, including wellness checks for NORC and other center participants.
+ Collaborate with program directors to deliver culturally sensitive, client-centered services.
+ Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations and make appropriate referrals.
+ Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
+ Provide general assistance to participants and center staff as needed.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
+ Minimum of one (1) year experience working with older adults or in case management is preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of benefits and entitlements is a plus.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport.
+ Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable using databases.
+ Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese (spoken and written) is required.
