    Inspects, measures, and tests products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates results compared to approved standards. Engages in professional written & verbal communication with lab customers regarding inspection data and judgements. Performs required data recording and documentation of measurement results produced through skilled application of the duties listed below.

     

    Key Roles & Responsibilities

    Standard Duties:

    + Maintain all quality standards and adhere to current quality control policies.

    + Perform & sustain 5S activities required to maintain a World Class Metrology Lab

    + Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies

    + Perform all lab processes such as daily dimensional verifications.

    + G, D & T and blueprint reading; ASME Y 14.5

    + Operate technical inspection equipment such as CMM, Gleason Gear Analyzer, Vision Machine, Contour Tracer, Surface Analyzer, Roundness Tester, Optical Contour.

    + Use handheld gages (e.g. micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)

    + Train others to use to use metrology equipment

    + Perform all lab processes such as PPAP, dimensional verifications, new product launch, receiving inspection, and non-conforming material investigations.

    + Perform layouts and create bubble prints using High QA software

    + Crosstrain on all Quality Lab equipment and the duties of each role to allow flexibility based on changing needs or temporary priorities

    + Pursue personal continuous skills development and perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Lab Leader or Quality Technical Services Manager

    Safety, Health and Physical Requirements:

    + May require lifting in excess of 40 pounds during a scheduled shift

    + May require pushing or pulling of manual pallet jacks or hand carts containing full baskets of parts

    + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and could encounter hazardous chemicals.

    + All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with the safety policies and procedures

    Education & Experience

    Education:

    + High school diploma/GED required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    Experience:

    + Able to verify dimensions using basic metrology equipment.

    + Ability to operate all types of metrology equipment.

    + G, D & T and blue print interpretation; ASME Y 14.5.

    + Above average verbal/written communication and human relation skills.

    + Familiar with quality standards such as TS16949.

    + Machining experience or background preferred.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in using common computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and have an aptitude for learning lab specific software.
