    Job Title: Automation Controls EngineerJob Description

     

    The Lead Controls Engineer will oversee and direct electrical system project efforts, including design, validation, and production. This role is responsible for power distribution, electrical wiring design, integration, and design considerations for optimum performance. The position involves managing and mentoring a team of Electrical and Controls Engineers, coordinating resources to support all project phases from design through manufacturing, including installation, warranty, and post-warranty phases. The Lead Controls Engineer will also track and report project metrics and interface with suppliers and customers as needed.

    Responsibilities

    + Manage electrical upgrades and changes for equipment and facilities.

    + Oversee electrical controls related outsourcing.

    + Perform and facilitate on-site start-up and training activities.

    + Recommend design improvements for Continuous Improvement activities.

    + Support design, development, and review of division processes.

    + Drive process changes and design improvements through active feedback from customers, assemblers, and field service personnel.

    + Participate in continuous improvement projects related to cost reduction, workflow, and manufacturing methods.

    + Ensure compliance with customer specifications.

    + Develop project budgets and prepare customer approval submittals.

    + Create Electrical Bill Of Materials for Equipment projects.

    + Monitor and confirm completion of internal readiness checklists before FAT.

    + Collaborate with R&D to develop new systems, prototypes, and processes.

    + Participate in customer machine issue diagnosis and resolution.

    + Support and participate in on-site machine interventions and repairs.

    + Develop and deliver machine training to customers.

    + Develop equipment documentation and support warranty process and resolution with vendors.

    Essential Skills

    + Electrical system project management.

    + Power distribution and electrical wiring design.

    + Integration and design for optimum performance.

    + Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.

    + Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, Robotics, Schematic, Control system design, and Troubleshooting.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.

    + 5+ years of electrical experience in Engineering.

    + Experience with PC-based systems and custom machine start-ups and commissioning.

    + Project Management experience is preferred.

    + Experience with the design and integration of robotic material handling programs (ABB, FANUC, MOTOMAN) is a plus.

    + Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic controls is preferred.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $57.69/hr.
