Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
+ 8 years of experience in software development.
+ 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
+ 5 years of experience developing and operating distributed storage solutions.
+ 5 years of experience with the C++ programming language, in large-scale systems.
+ 3 years of experience in designing and implementing resource management strategies.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
+ 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
+ 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
+ 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

The Infrastructure Storage team powers all Google applications, from YouTube and Photos to Google Cloud, by providing essential storage services. We ensure applications have the resources to succeed with efficient, reliable storage.
In this role, you will partner with the Infrastructure Storage I/O Tech Lead to optimize storage I/O availability across Google’s applications. You will collaborate with both customer teams and infrastructure teams to develop new functionality that boosts Google's storage efficiency and simplifies storage management for internal applications.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. + Develop metrics, systems, and models for optimal, low-risk I/O provision across the fleet, supporting all critical Google AI/ML and traditional workloads.
+ Lead the design of a multi-cluster storage resource management optimizer, balancing SSD/HDD use for batch and AI/ML workloads.
+ Deliver engineering projects to ease customer access to storage, removing location constraints. Design software for increased centrally managed services via simplified user experience and automated back-end allocation/scaling.
+ Model fleet efficiency/I/O demand to inform purchasing, planning, and roadmap prioritization. Develop and implement end-to-end metrics and SLOs for new I/O features' customer experience.
