    *Position Summary* This position is responsible for identifying and securing external funding to enhance programs that address substance use, mental health, education, vocational training, family reunification, housing, and reentry support. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the criminal justice system, social services, and grant acquisition processes. * * *Supervision Received:* Receives general direction and oversight in performing duties in accordance with all best management practices and established guidelines. *Duties and Responsibilities:* Researches, identifies, and evaluates grant opportunities from federal, state, local, and private funding sources that support correctional programming and post-incarceration initiatives. Develops, writes, and submits compelling grant proposals and applications that align with the Sheriff’s Office mission to reduce recidivism and improve community outcomes. Collaborates with internal stakeholders—including reentry staff, behavioral health professionals, case managers, education coordinators, and command staff—to gather data and program information. Designs grant budgets and work plans in partnership with finance and operational teams. Monitor active grants for compliance, budget adherence, and performance outcomes; ensure timely submission of required reports and documentation to funders. Tracks and evaluates outcomes of grant-funded programs to inform future proposals and demonstrate impact. Stays informed of national and state-level trends in criminal justice reform, public health in jails, and post-release support services. Assists in the development of logic models, performance metrics, and evaluation frameworks for program-based funding opportunities. Strong knowledge of governmental grant policies and procedures. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong knowledge of accounting practices and procedures. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Excels in financial system software. Organized with attention to detail. Ability to maintain good attendance. Excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of correctional programming, reentry challenges, and social determinants of health. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and grant submission platforms (e.g., Grants.gov, JustGrants, SAM.) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize and problem solve in a high-pressure environment. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement and to handle confidential information. *Qualifications:* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Social Work, Communications, or related field or related area of study is required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of grant writing experience, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in justice system, human services, or nonprofit environments Demonstrated success in securing funding from major agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), SAMHSA, or philanthropic foundations.
